…a Seattleite turned expat who’s wandering, photographing and eating my way through Spain and beyond.
How did I end up in Spain?
With a family history full of expats, I was born with wanderlust in my veins. Though I made my first international trip as a baby, it wasn’t until I studied abroad in Greece, that I found my life’s greatest passion; travel.
Coming home from Greece, I was at a fork in the road. I could buckle down and start a career, or, I could find my way back to Europe by any means possible. I faced my own truth that if I was going to see the world, the time was NOW. Nothing was less appealing to me than graduating and going straight into 40 years of work until retirement. I wanted to see the world, and do it while I’m still young. So, I struck out on my own, packed my bags and ended up in the sunny south of Spain…even though I’d never even visited before. Yup, pretty crazy!
I spent three years enjoying the sunshine, jamón and la vida Andaluza before I sought out greener pastures–literally. I’m now in beautiful Basque Country, the mysterious (and very green!) northern region in Spain that I just happen to believe is one of the country’s greatest treasures.
I’m now navigating life in a culture pretty different to what I became used to in the south. Heck, they even speak a different language here! And while a piece of my heart will always belong to Andalucía, I couldn’t be more excited to experience a new side of Spain and share it with you.
Why do I write this blog?
Through my words and photos, I hope to encourage others to see this beautiful world we live in and to not let fear of the unknown prevent you from doing it. If I’d have let my prior lack of Spanish, and the fact that I had never been to the country stop me, I would have missed out on some of the most fulfilling experiences of my life.
This blog is my testament to the vibrant, diverse and beautiful country that is Spain. It’s full of some of my favorite places, learning experiences, and travel, in Spain, and all over the world.
